Metro-Cross is an action game originally developed and published by Namco for the arcade. It was ported to the Commodore 64 in 1986 by Probe Software.

In this game, you play as "the runner" and must make it to the end of the stage within the given time limit. You simply run through the stage, though a skateboard can also be obtained. You can also hop on soda cans to increase your time limit. You also have to avoid various traps throughout each stage.

The Commodore 64 version is a decent adaptation for such an early title, but of course, is not on par with the superior arcade original.

The Commodore 64 version of Metro-Cross was done by Brian O'Shaughnessy, Fergus McGovern, and Vakis Paraskeva.

Music

The game's music is from the arcade game which was composed by Nobuyuki Ohnogi. Someone at Probe converted the music to the SID chip. The game lacks credits, but the high score screen credits the first names of the Probe staff. The founder of Probe, Fergus McGovern said he doesn't recall who did the audio conversion, but it was most likely the programmer. Brian is one of the names in the high scores which is Brian O'Shaughnessy. Back in the day it was common for the programmer to handle most of the development, including audio. The music, while not as good as its arcade original, was actually ported over fairly well considering the circumstances. Only two sound channels are used, but most of the notation is spot on, albeit, tuned down a half-step.

The order of the tracks come from the SID file.
