Piano Sonata No. 2 In B-flat Minor
Piano Sonata No. 2 In B-flat Minor (Op. 35) was composed by Frédéric Chopin. Most of the work was composed in 1839, but the third movement, the funeral march, had been composed as early as 1837. It is considered one of Chopin's most difficult and technically demanding works to interpret on the piano.
The sonata comprises four movements:
- Grave - Doppio movimento
- Marche funèbre: Lento
- Finale: Presto
The first movement features a stormy opening theme and a gently lyrical second theme. The second movement is a virtuoso scherzo with a more relaxed melodic central section. The third movement begins and ends with the celebrated funeral march in B flat minor which gives the sonata its nickname, but has a calm interlude in D flat major. The finale contains a whirlwind of unremitting parallel octaves, with unvarying tempo and dynamics, and not a single rest or chord until the final bars.

King's Quest: Quest of the Crown (DOS)
An excerpt from the well-known Funeral March movement in played when you cause Sir Graham to suffer a grizzly fate. The song is Sound.002 in the game's data files.
Both versions of the tune have been recorded, the 3 voice version and the PC speaker version.
King's Quest II: Romancing the Throne (DOS)
The same tune is played for the same reason in King's Quest 2. Once again, there are two versions of the song. However, the 3 voice version is slightly lower quality than the version in KQ1. The song is Sound.007 in the game's data files.
