Puyo Puyo (ぷよぷよ), also localized as Puyo Pop before 2017, is primarily a falling block puzzle game series. It was originally a spin-off from Madou Monogatari, but quickly overtook it in popularity.
In most games, the player must "pop" Puyos by connecting four of the same color together, with larger "chains" of consecutive pops being ideal. Every game after the first pits the player against an opponent by default - making chains sends "nuisance" Puyos to the other side's board, clogging it up. The first player to fill up their board with Puyo loses the match.
