Conan is an action game developed by Eastridge Technology and published by Mindscape. The game is actually a conversion of the computer game Myth: History in the Making for the Commodore 64. The game has also been mislabeled with the subtitle The Mysteries of Time, but this title does not exist neither in the game nor the manual. In this game, you play as the titular hero Conan, who must go through seven levels and brave the challenges of each level. There is also a bit of puzzle-solving required to get through each level, like acquiring a trident to kill the boss of the first level with, in which you must cut down a hanging skeleton, which triggers a demon holding the trident to appear.

The game was negatively received by critics due to its poor gameplay and graphics. The game was single-handedly programmed by Nick Eastridge, but the game was rushed in development by Mindscape, who forced Eastridge to complete the game quickly.

Music

The music is one of the better Eastridge Technology soundtracks. Rather than convert Jeroen Tel's soundtrack from the computer version, the NES game contains original music by Rich Shemaria. There are some nice songs here that fit the medieval sound of the game. All of the songs play at 150 BPM, which seemed to be a standard for Eastridge Technology games, probably because it was the easiest tempo to write for on the NES. Level 3's music goes out of sync with each loop due to a programming bug.

To create the music, Rich wrote the music on sheet music paper, which was then given to Nick Eastridge to convert to his sound driver.

Like all other Eastridge Technology games, this game lacks credits. However, Rich still has most of the sheet music sketches he made for the video games he worked on, and found Conan as one of the works he had forgotten. He also confirmed Eastridge Technology was in fact the developer.
