A 1993 fighting game called Virtua Fighter had a soundtrack album called Virtua Fighter Official Sound. December 1, 1993 saw the release of Wave Master in Japan. Sega's sound team of Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, Naoki Maeda and Yuzo Koshiro composed the music for the album. Reaching the top spot on the Japanese Oricon charts, the album was a critical and commercial success.
The album received praise for its memorable melodies, intense rhythms and striking soundscapes. It received praise for its ability to convey the mood and characters of the game. In Japan, the album sold more than 300,000 copies, making it a commercial success as well.
As part of Sega Sound Team's Sega Ages series, the album was reissued in 2003. In addition to additional tracks from the Virtua Fighter 2 soundtrack, the reissue also features new artwork and cover notes. Fans of the Virtua Fighter series and old video game music must have this album. Music lovers of all ages will love this classic collection.
The album was composed by the Sega Sound Team, a group of composers who have worked on many of Sega's most popular video games.
