Rip

HVSC is not going to rip Ultima VI explicitly, because the songs are already in Ultima V and we don't like duplicates (we mention it of course). I've pretty much inherited their logic, but I'll take note (outside of them) if strong wish is expressed to see the tags changed (from V to VI and 1988 to 1991) and the unused tracks removed. --Professor Chaos (talk) 18:46, 30 August 2021 (EDT)

Understandable. Though while creating this page I was mostly thinking about Pool of Radiance (C64)/Cure of the Azure Bond (C64) - same music, even though sound effects might be different, but there are two rips. However, I'm not entirely sure that Rule, Britannia! is the actual song used in ending anyway - I've only played the beginning of Ultima VI with Ultima Theme, haven't seen the ending.
An additional rip might be somewhat useful to be played in "VGMPF SID playlist" (I'm creating some from time to time) - so the game finally has its entry. Aside of it, there isn't too much need in that rip, I guess. --M1911 (talk) 01:05, 31 August 2021 (EDT)
If you don't mind, I'd remind you against about this topic. I'm only not sure the second track is exactly played in this game, and others weren't (haven't played Ultima VI on Commodore 64 to the end, so the usage of Rule, Britannia was a guess). --M1911 (talk) 07:13, 16 January 2023 (EST)
Oops, didn't realize I was asked something. :) I just checked out one version of Ultima VI, and Rule, Britannia! is definitely not on any of the six disk sides. Instead, Stones is (nice!), under the filename THEME2, byte-by-byte identical with the Ultima V rip, and referenced on disk sides 2 and 6... but where in the game... I'd have to trace the code, as RPGs aren't my genre. Can put it into my (lengthy :)) to-do list, as well as submitting to HVSC STIL that only tracks 1 and 5 of Ultima V are used. --Professor Chaos (talk) 14:10, 17 January 2023 (EST)
I just noticed that Ultima V and VI use different timing methods, so Ultima VI on NTSC plays faster than Ultima VI on PAL and Ultima V on either... hmm, that might need some thinking about... --Professor Chaos (talk) 15:09, 17 January 2023 (EST)
All right, thanks! --M1911 (talk) 13:54, 26 February 2023 (EST)
