Sayo Carnival (小夜カーニバル Little Night Carnival) is a song written for the game KiKi KaiKai: Dotou Hen. It was composed by Hisayoshi Ogura with lyrics by Jun Tochinai, arranged by Haruhiko Tsuda, and performed by actress and musician Miki Ito. The song is named after the main character Sayo, but the game's manual also lists the song as Little Night Carnival, which is a translation of Sayo's name.
The song was only released on Miki Ito's Aishuu Pucelle (哀愁ピュセル) single, and has never been released on CD.
The song is written in the key of B minor.

The song was arranged for the Famicom Disk System quite faithfully. However, instead of B minor, the Famicom Disk System version transposes the song to the key of G minor. It is also the only song in the game that takes advantage of the Famicom Disk System's extra sound channel, the RP2C33. The song also plays faster than the studio version of the song, 150 BPM. The song plays on the title screen, but doesn't loop.
The song was most likely arranged by Tadashi Sou, who had previously worked with Yoshiaki Tsuruoka in arranging the Ghostbusters Theme for Ghostbusters (NES). The game does not credit the arranger, but Sou is listed as one of the programmers. This is also supported by the fact that the composer, Hisayoshi Ogura, was not involved in this game's development.
Tadashi most likely had to write the music in 6502 assembly language macros. He used Yoshiaki's sound driver, the same variant used in Magma Project Hacker (FDS).
