Game Over plays when your party has been defeated by enemies in Pool of Radiance (NES). Unlike the computer versions which say "The monsters rejoice, for the party has been destroyed!", the NES version simply gives the player a game over screen.

The song is in the 4/4 time signature and alternates between the keys of A major and G major. Its tempo is approximately 97 beats per minute. While the song uses a fairly upbeat chord progression, the melodies still manage to give the song a sorrowful feel, letting the player know they lost the game.
