Donald J. Diekneite | ||||||||
|
Don Diekneite (pronounced Deek-night) is an American composer who worked at Atari while they were developing arcade games. His music ranges from action-packed styles such as rock to smooth styles like jazz. Don is also known as "Trumpet Don" by his friends because he is also a very accomplished trumpet player.
Don started his video game music career when he started working for Atari in 1988. Atari's main composer Brad Fuller had asked him to move to California and start working with him at Atari, and Don accepted the job. He started his work there composing music and sound for many of their arcades and from the experience he gained working there, he began working on producing and game design. After 14 years of working there, Don left Atari in 2002. He then co-founded Sonaural, Atari composer Brad Fuller's music company. He worked at Sonaural, still composing music and sound for over 50 video games. In June 2007, Don left Sonaural to work for Leap Frog and composed and programmed audio for their games. Since 2006, Don has been working at Cogswell Polytechnical College teaching game design and digital audio technology. He also currently works at Trion Worlds and composed the music to their MMO game Rift.
