Castlevania: Legends in Japanese Devil's Castle Dracula: Dark Night Prelude' (悪魔城ドラキュラ漆黒たる前奏曲 Akumajō Dracula: Shikkoku Taru Zensōkyoku ) is the third and last appearance of the saga on the Game Boy console in 1977.

This game tells the story of Sonia Belmont, a girl with special powers has been born. As she grew older her powers intensified more and more, and were destined for a purpose of hers. Her life totally changed at the age of 17 when she meets Alucard, the mysterious and forgotten son of Dracula.

The first of the legendary Belmonts, Sonia, formed a bond with Alucard who had been investigating her father's actions. Sonia had been trained by her uncle, but Alucard, recognizing her impressive abilities, helped her complete training and it was at this moment that he revealed his plan: to end his father's reign of terror and darkness, confront him and dethrone him once and for all. once for all; Alucard was shocked when Sonia revealed that she also had the same intentions using all of her special powers to kill the Prince of Darkness so the two embarked on the crusade.

One thing is for sure, Dracula would not allow a woman to stop him for any reason... Through her adventure, Sonia acquired the ability to absorb the souls and powers of defeated bosses, so she collected and learned to handle 5 special items: the the axe, the dagger, the holy water, the cross and the paralyzer of time that, with the passing of the generations, would become heirlooms of the Belmont family.

Despite having agreed to a deal, when Alucard found her inside the war that had started, he wanted to persuade her to abandon her mission to prevent her from getting hurt from it; when she refused, Alucard decided to test her through combat. Feeling the power of his whip, Sonia defeated Alucard so he let her face his father helping her in the only way he knows how, submerging his dark powers and putting himself in a state of rest to wash his cursed blood from the face of the earth. However, he promised that he would wake up from his rest once her father rises again...

Despite her strong feelings for Alucard and the deep sadness she felt at losing him, she was eventually led to meet her with the Count. After a long and bloody battle, Sonia was victorious. Dracula vowed to return one day, that as long as there is evil in the world, his name will be requested. Sonia, upon hearing this message, proclaimed that there would always be someone ready to fight against evil, regardless of whether she had to use her whip again. Her words were the truth, Sonia had a baby, the next of the Belmonts who would take charge of this sacred mission, Trevor Belmont.

The blood that would run through his veins would make them stronger than any other human being, even more powerful than the rest of the Vampire Slayer. All future Belmonts will have the same natural ability and the weapons to use, especially the holy whip, regardless of the fact that in the course of their lives they never have to use them.

Music

Most of the music of Castlevania Legends is newly composed. However, the first stage notably has a modified version of Bloody Tears as its background music, and the final battle's background music begins with a quote from Vampire Killer.

The music of the game has been commercially released as part of Akumajō Dracula Best Music Collections BOX (2010).

A sound test was originally intended to be featured in the game, but the idea was scrapped. It was programmed and is fully functional, though, and can be accessed by entering a GameShark code once the player starts a level.
