Yoshihisa Tomabechi is a Japanese composer and saxophonist. He was born in Aoyama, Japan on October 2, 1944. He got into music when he was in junior high school after hearing the hit song "Chiisana Hana" (Little Flower) by The Peanuts and clarinetist Shoji Suzuki, which inspired Tomabechi to take up the clarinet and become a composer. A year later, while attending Aoyama Gakuin High School, he formed a jazz band with Ichiro Araki and others. During his senior year in high school, he decided to halt his studies to become a professional musician. However, he studied electronics at the Nippon Kogakuin in Kamata for something to fall back on. In 1964, Tomabechi started to play the saxophone. A year later, he went professional when he worked for Victor Entertainment, where he became a studio engineer. There, he recorded for many popular Japanese artists such as Sadao Watanabe, Masahiko Togashi, and Yosuke Yamashita. He later created the "Thomas Band", which he was a part of up until 1992. Around this time, Koei contracted Tomabechi to score the music to their video game Leading Company. He composed all but a few songs for the game, and his work on the game was released on the game's soundtrack CD Keys of the City. He also later contributed music to the game Ore no Ryouri in 1999, and has not returned to video game music since.
Today, Tomabechi continues his activities as a composer and saxophonist. He hopes to create music that makes people feel happy.
