WWF Wrestlemania (NES)

WWF Wrestlemania is a mediocre wrestling game for the NES developed by rare. The game lets you select 6 Wrestlemania stars; Ted Dibiase, Bam Bam Bigelow, Honky Tonk Man, Randy Savage, Andre the Giant and of course, the Immortal Hulk Hogan. You move your player around the ring and must pin down your opponent. Your wrestler can do different special kinds of moves but trying to figure them out and trying to use them is a pain to do. Occasionally, a special symbol will move across the screen, which one of the two wrestlers can pick up to restore their health.

Music
WWF Wrestlemania has quite a good soundtrack for 1989; most of the wrestlers' themes are present and are represented beautifully on the NES 2A03, despite its limitations. Some of the familiar themes include Hulk Hogan's "Real American" and Randy Savage's "Pomp and Circumstance". However, there are some rather interesting choices with the music. For example, Andre the Giant's theme is replaced with Stand Back, and Ted Dibiase's theme is replaced with Robbie Dupee's "Girls in Cars".
The game's music was written and arranged by Rare's David Wise. According to Wise, he had to write the music in hexadecimal notation. Due to the limited resources at the time, Wise most likely had to learn the wrestler themes by ear. This is supported by the fact that, despite Wise's wonderful work on this title, an off note can be heard here and there.
The game's music does not loop; instead, the themes of both wrestlers in a match are swapped until the match is over.
