Vicarious Visions, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Albany, New York.

The studio was acquired by Activision in January 2005. After releasing its last game as part of that company, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, Vicarious Visions became part of Activision's sister company Blizzard Entertainment in January 2021 and was merged into it in April 2022, thereby being renamed Blizzard Albany.

Some staff founded 1st Playable Productions and Velan Studios, while some moved to Amaze Entertainment.

Games

Music Development

PC / Console

On their first title Synnergist, composers used sound driver by John Miles.

For their later works, Todd Masten used Cubase 6.

Game Boy Color

On Zebco Fishing! and Vigilante 8, Todd Masten converted PCM samples to unique sound driver.

On later titles, audio was outsourced to Shin'en Multimedia. Manfred Linzner converted his music files to GHX sound driver, which developed by Bernhard Wodok.

On Zoboomafoo: Playtime in Zoboland and Monsters, Inc., audio was outsourced to Cosmigo.

Nintendo 64

On Polaris SnowCross, Todd Masten used MusyX, a sound tool by Factor 5.

Game Boy Advance

The company outsourced their sound to Shin'en Multimedia. Manfred Linzner and Martin Schioeler converted their music files to GAX sound driver, which developed by Bernhard Wodok.

On both Muppets games, audio was outsourced to Engine Software. Bart Roijmans wrote music using MadTracker and converted his XM files for playback with developer's sound driver by Jan-Lieuwe Koopmans.

On their unreleased game Static Shock, audio was outsourced to Cosmigo. Kai Walter wrote MIDI music using Sonix, a sound tool by Cosmigo.

Nintendo DS

They early titles used Shin'en Multimedia's DSX sound engine by Bernhard Wodok.

Shrek the Third used Intelligent Systems' Nitro Composer sound driver.

On later titles, original music recordings were converted as RAW data.

Mobile

On their mobile games, audio was outsourced to Shin'en Multimedia. Composers composed MIDI music using Logic.
