Unused Track is a song originally composed for Mega Man VII (SNES) but left out of the final product. The public first learned of its existence on August 12th, 2007, when a prototype containing the song was dumped and released to the public. However, its first official release was on September 19th, 2012 (the release date of the soundtrack album Rockman Sound E-Kan: Rockman Shuunen Kinen, which includes the song).

This track seems to fit more in the style of Makoto Tomozawa (seen in The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie (SNES)), although he did not claim credit when listing the tracks he was responsible for. It is also possible that Toshihiko Horiyama composed and arranged this song.

Title

All official soundtrack releases call the song "Unused Track" (stylized as "UNUSED TRACK" in Japanese track lists).

Composition

After the introduction, the bulk of the song is fast-paced, as though it might have accompanied an action-packed section of the game. Some instruments are hard panned in stereo: rapid drum beats on the left, bass on the right, and the main melody's harmonies split between the two.
