Toshio Murai was a Japanese composer, sound designer, and professional bassist. Around 1987, he joined SOFEL as their main composer. He would sometimes work with other composers as well such as Koji Doi and You Tsuji. Around 1990, he started doing music for Alfa System alongside Doi and Tsuji, still composing for SOFEL. In 1993, Murai composed his last game for SOFEL and left the game industry.
Today, Murai is still active as a professional bassist, and has written several instruction books.
Audio Development
NES
Murai at first ended up using SOFEL's custom sound engine (possibly by Koji Doi). For Monster Maker, his music was arranged by Osamu Ichishita into a custom sound driver, possibly by the game's sound designer, Shosuke Imai.
SNES
Murai used a sound driver by CUBE.
