Toshiaki Imai was a Japanese programmer and composer who worked for Square until around 1987. He may also have done sound effects work for several of Square's games, including Final Fantasy (NES). Hiroshi Nakamura later took his place and created an NES sound engine for Square and other companies.
Imai subsequently worked as the lead sound designer at Quest, before returning to the merged Square Enix in the early 2000s.
