The electronic music album Tempest 2000 The Soundtrack was released in 1994 by Howard "Nunzio" Lieberman, an American musician and composer. It is the score for the 1994 release of Jeff Minter's Tempest 2000 video game for Atari Jaguar.

Sixteen songs on the album combine elements of electronic music with video game audio. The music has been called "spacey," "cosmic" and "hypnotic." Critics and listeners alike have praised the album, which is considered one of the best electronic music albums of its time.

Numerous media outlets, including the film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and the British television program Eurotrash, have incorporated music from Tempest 2000 The Soundtrack. In 1997, the song "Track 13" was featured in a television advertising campaign for the Volkswagen Golf car.

Both electronic music fans and music critics gave it very positive reviews. Many critics praised the way elements of electronic music and video game sounds combined to create hypnotic, spacey and highly original music.

The album received praise for its professional production and Howard "Nunzio" Lieberman's talent for writing music that perfectly complemented the action of the game. In addition, many of the album's reviewers mentioned how addictive and hard to get out of your head the songs were.

The album did not enjoy the same level of commercial success as other video game soundtracks such as Super Mario Bros. or Sonic the Hedgehog. Tempest 2000 The Soundtrack, on the other hand, gained a devoted following and became very popular with Atari Jaguar gamers who loved both the soundtrack and the game.

Overall, Tempest 2000 The Soundtrack is considered one of the most outstanding electronic music albums of the 1990s and has had a significant impact on the growth of electronic music and video game culture.

Notes

• “

Although the non-Jaguar versions of the game used music from a CD, the music was created in the Commodore Amiga MOD file format.

  „

• “

It served as the model for the audio for all subsequent conversions of the game, including PC, PlayStation and Saturn. But due to space restrictions on the cartridge, some tracks were left off the Jaguar version.

  „

• “

There was a demo of the virtual light music visualizer from Atari Jaguar's Light Machine, on the CD also included with the Atari Jaguar short version.
