Using the claw-shaped Blaster spaceship from the original game, the player must navigate through a series of levels and an intergalactic conflict while fending off a variety of on-screen enemies in order to survive.
Tempest 2000 was originally a Jaguar exclusive, but was later released on MS-DOS, Macintosh, Sega Saturn, PlayStation and Windows with a variety of modifications. and modifications to the initial version.
This port was developed on Atari Jaguar, which made it difficult to work on this system, but Dave Theurer's 1981 arcade game Tempest, which made use of Atari's Quadrascan vector color display technology, has been remade by Jeff Minter.
Although it was originally Jaguar it did very well in sales on all systems although the original version is that it managed to be developed, it is almost a copy and paste for the other systems, console to console.
This led to the release of a Sega Saturn version that was based on this version, only technical improvements were made for computers.
It is often cited as one of the best Jaguar games ever created, and as of April 1, 1995, the Jaguar version had sold over 30,000 copies throughout its existence, making it one of the best-selling Jaguar games on the system.
Although not as well received as the original version, the other ports were well received. Many sequels, clones and spiritual sequels were made as a result of the commercial and critical success of the film.
“
This game went down in the history of the
Jaguar as a cult title for the general public, which led to its re-release on Sega Saturn, PlayStation, MS-DOS/Microsoft Windows and Macintosh.

Alastair Lindsay and
Kevin Saville of

Atari Jaguar.
It was also included with the Atari Jaguar to demonstrate the music playback capabilities of the system. It would become the audio base for all conversions of the game, but the music would be that of the Atari Jaguar CD Soundtrack including the Windows 32, PlayStation and Saturn versions.
Although the non-Jaguar releases of the game used CD music, the music was created in the Commodore Amiga MOD file format. The music soundtrack was also available directly from Atari at the time of CD release. To showcase the music playback capabilities of the system, the CD was also included with Atari's Jaguar CD.
For all game conversions, including the PC, PlayStation and Saturn versions, it served as the inspiration for the audio. However, due to space limitations, several tracks were not included in the Jaguar version.
Due to space limitations, only 7 tracks were originally created, several tracks were not included on until the Jaguar CD version Soundtrack CD.
