Tanigawa Kouji no Shougi Shinan III (Koji Tanigawa's Shogi Teaching III) is a shougi board game video game developed by an unknown developer and published by Pony Canyon. The game features famed shougi player Koji Tanigawa, and is the last game in the series to feature his endorsement. The game was released for the Famicom and the PC-9801.
The game features several modes of play; Taikyoku (対局 Game) is a normal exhibition game, and you can set the CPU's AI level, though even the lowest level is still tricky. Second, there's Meijinsen (名人戦 Master Battle), where you are faced against Koji Tanigawa and must win up to four games against him to beat the game. There are also Hasami Shogi (はさみ将棋 Scissors Shogi) and Slot Shogi (スロット将棋) modes of play.
The developer may have been Systec.

Music
The soundtrack may be the most impressive of the series, but that's not saying much. The title music is a nice 6/8 piano tune, and there are now in-game tunes. However, most of these can get annoying after playing for a long time. The good thing is that there is an option during the game to either mute the music or change it to one of the three songs. Interestingly, this is the only game in the series to use a song that has percussion. There are also a few jingles for the slot machine. Also, the ending music in this version serves as the title music for the PC98 version and the Game Boy Color games.
The music was composed by Yasuhiro Kawasaki, who composed music for Pony Canyon at the time as a contractor. Most of the soundtrack was used in the Shougi games for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, hinting that the developer and composer may be the same. They even reuse the same sounds. The game uses the same sound driver as the second game for the Famicom and Famicom Disk System.
In addition, this game adds the polish of a few digitized voices. However, they are sped up, making Tanigawa sound like a chipmunk.

The game does not have credits in the game or manual. When you beat the game, you are treated to a one-screen ending, and the game stays there until you either reset or power off the Famicom. We have contacted Yasuhiro Kawasaki, who verified composing the game's music.
