Steve Aguirre (pronounced "Ah-gee-re") was an American game developer of Basque descent. Around high school, Steve became interested in computer and video games and taught himself how to program so he could make games for his siblings on the Atari.
After serving as a missionary, he started working for Sculptured Software, where he would program a variant of their Wolfgang sound system for their SNES games, although he was also involved with some of their NES games.
Unfortunately, Steve passed away on February 21, 2024 in Murray, Utah. His death was caused by many illnesses he battled including Hodgkin's disease, heart problems, as well as pancreatic cancer.
