Speed King is a single-player back-view motorcycle race against 19 opponents.
You can choose between 10 real courses and between 2, 4 and 6 laps. For each combination, your shortest race time is recorded, and for each course, your shortest lap time, and best rank after last lap. Off record, you can choose between novice, pro or champion. All opponents stay close behind, so don't get too far on the grass!
The game was ported from Mastertronic's Commodore 64 update quite accurately, even though several touches are missing: the loading picture, all animated flags, some audio, and saving records. Also, all opponents are blue and centered, thus almost too easy to dodge. Then again, you now crash when they drive into you—won't even honk anymore!

Music
The audio for menu, start, engine, rattle and crash has been recreated. The engine is now played by a strong chorus of 2 detuned square waves. The rattle is no longer white noise, but temporarily lowers the engine sound.
However, the song drones and is sometimes offbeat. The engine does not decay as you drive over the finish line into distance. Worst, the engine does not rev when you shift gear, which is feted on the original.
Recording
To record two loops plus 10 seconds, the game was started in WinAPE Version 2.0 Beta 2.
