Shouei System (株式会社ショウエイ・システム Kabushikigaisha Shouei Shisutemu) was a Japanese game developer, founded in 1981 as Souhei Ltd. and changed name for Souhei System in 1982. They were formerly known as Bears. The company is known for their Fist of the North Star and Puss 'N Boots games and developed games based on popular franchises such as Hokuto no Ken and The Masked Ninja. In 1999, the company closed its doors.

NES
Shouei hired Tomohisa Mitsuyasu from the band J-Walk to compose the music to most of their NES games. Tomohisa wrote the music in Music Macro Language using a driver by programmer Yasuhide Sakakura.
This sound driver also used for Renegade, made by Technos (Michiya Hirasawa's sound engine did not exist at the time and the sound driver was licensed from the company).
