Selection

Selection is played through the menus of SimCity (SNES) which involve loading a saved game, creating a new one, picking a map, and/or choosing a scenario. This tune has not been released on any albums, so Soyo Oka should be contacted for an official title.
Oka wrote the music using a unique version of Nintendo's Kankichi-kun, possibly by Koji Kondo.
Composition
The song is in common time, in the key of C major, and plays at approximately 98 beats per minute. The song is led by a trombone, accompanied by a three-piece xylophone, an electric bass, and a very basic kick and snare drum duo, as well as a violin that plays just before the second half of the song.
The song starts out with a C(9) chord. It then progresses to a D/C, D dim/C, and then a C descending to the second half of the song, which starts in Am7. It then progresses to a Gm7, then D. It then ends with a G#sus4/A# and Esus4/B. In fact, most of the xylophone chords start out as a suspended fourth, descend a half-step, descend a whole step, and then work their way back up again.
