Secret of Evermore was the first game developed by square's American division. The gameplay and the menus were largely borrowed from Secret of Mana. You play as both the "Hero" and his shape shifting dog through Evermore, a world that is composed of separate realms, each resembling a different period of real-world history. Each realm has a person you must save, and that realm is the reflection of that person's "ideal" time period.
Our story starts off in the city of Podunk in the year of 1965. An experiment goes awry and we are forwarded to the year of 1995. Our hero comes out of a movie and while walking home, his dog chases a cat and ends up in the manor that 30 years prior housed the botched experiment. Soon after our hero finds himself in pre-history and his dog looks weird... As the story unfolds, we join our hero in his trip back home to good old Podunk...

Music
All Tracks were composed by Jeremy Soule. Its quite atmospheric and contains a fair amount of ambience, which really adds to the immersion factor when playing through the game. Howling winds, chirping seagulls, creaking frogs, and computer beeps are all part of the sonic immersion that was distinctive in this soundtrack. This game used Wolfgang's sound driver from Sculptured Software.
