Russell Shiffer is an American video game designer and developer. From 1984 to 1988, he attended California State University-Northridge and obtained a Bachelors in Classical Music Composition. He joined Accolade in 1989. Here, he performed various duties for the company, including programming, graphics, and audio. While at Accolade, he also reverse engineered the Sega Genesis and also developed some tools for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System so that the company could develop for it. In 1997, he left Accolade and worked for various other game developers such as 3DO, Electronic Arts, and Namco Bandai Games, though he did not work on audio at any of these companies.
Today, Shiffer currently is the Staff Technical Program Manager of Simulation at Cruise, a company based in San Francisco which specializes in developing fully electric, self-driving cars.
