Platform: NES
Year: 1990
Developer: Idea-Tek

Peek-A-Boo Poker is an unlicensed adult-oriented NES game. The game was developed by an uncredited Idea-Tek and published by Panesian in North America.

The game is a simple game of poker. The player can choose between three different girls which act as difficulty settings; Full House Francine (Ruka in the Japanese version), Double Dealing Debbie (Mari), or Pok-er Penny (Ayamin). You can bet in increments of ten and form 30-90. If you lose all your money, then it's game over. But if you win enough money against the opponent, a cutscene will display with her stripping. Each time you win and get the cutscene, the girl will remove more and more articles of clothing.

Due to its adult nature and not many game stores selling it on its release, the game is extremely rare and is highly sought after by collectors.

Music

The game's music was by Idea-Tek's main composer Ding Bohao. For an unlicensed title, there isn't much to expect, but what's here is good. The title screen is a Latin-themed tune. There are two songs the player can choose from for the in-game music. However, the music cannot be changed during the game, only what the player picked on the main menu. BGM I is similar to the title music and carries a moderately-paced song in C major. BGM II is shorter, but is more jazzy.

There is a theme for each girl during their cutscenes. Full House Francine's song was later used in another adult-themed game, AV Hanafuda Club (FC). There is also a jingle that appears to go unused. It sounds like it was meant to play if you got a Game Over, but the BGM the player selected continues to play at this screen.

To create the music, Ding created music and used a format similar to MIDI, and it was converted to Guo Quiyong's sound driver.

Credits

Like most adult games, the game does not have credits. However, the music in the game strongly resembles Ding Bohao's musical style, including the drum patterns used, as well Title Screen and BGM I using a rapid succession of sixteenth notes.
