The original version of the song sets the stage for every rendition to come, creating a hard rock sound with a prominent electric guitar-like melody and constant drumming.

This song is track 01 in the game's sound test.

Released 1995-??-??
Format MIDI

The DOS port features a MIDI conversion by Stephen Rozner & Michael Bowman. It is noticeably higher-pitched and lacks some of the original song's richer-sounding elements - for example, the drums are significantly less punchy and impactful.

Format GBS

The opening stage is modeled on the first X game's equivalent, including its music. This arrangement is bound to the limitations of the DMG-CPU B's PCB, resulting in a sparser sound when compared to the original. That said, it remains very faithful to the original melody and key.

This version is called "オープニングステージ" ("Opening Stage" in katakana) on the 20th Anniversary Rockman X Sound Box.

Maverick Hunter X, a remix of the first X game, features a remix of the song in its opening stage. Its overall style leans towards techno, though it uses a guitar for the leading melody and sporadically incorporates drums & other orchestral sounds to support it.

This version is called "Opening Stage - Central Highway" on the 20th Anniversary Rockman X Sound Box.

A retro-styled, intentionally cheesy commercial for Mega Man 10 features a short remix of the opening stage's theme with lyrics, despite X being separate from the classic series.

Mega Man
Mega Man!
He's blue and he knows what to do
He's much more than a man
He's Mega Man!
