Niji no Silkroad Image Album: Windy Road is a soundtrack CD released by Victor Musical Industries in 1991. It contains most, but not all songs from the game Niji no Silkroad Image Album: Windy Road (FC). Most of these are recordings taken directly from the game, but the rest are arranged versions of the songs, some of which contain lyrics. These arrangements were done by Masayuki Nakatomi and performed by Nakatomi and other musicians.
The game also contains a section written by Gozo Shiozaki, editor-in-chief of the popular video game magazine Famitsu. He talks about how the developers of this game were competing against Yuji Horii's Dragon Warrior 4 (NES) and Rune Master. However, the latter title never released, and was intended as a Famicom Disk System title.
While the game itself does not have credits, the manual does. However, it does not credit the audio staff from the developer. Fortunately, the soundtrack's liner notes credit the usual Advance Communication Company audio team; Michiharu Hasuya, Osamu Kasai, and Masaaki Harada. As a result, this can be used as a source for when the game's page is created.
The game itself has its music tuned to approximately A=447Hz. However, the soundtrack CD changes it to A=400Hz, but with the lowest octave of the frequency registers left untouched, leaving for an undesired out-of-tune sound for the title music's bassline. This was due to an oversight with the game's sound driver.
