Mississippi Satsujin Jiken was the second text adventure game for Famicom, the first one being Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken (FC). It is a port of the Western computer title Murder on the Mississippi (C64), although it differs a lot from the original game.
The player controls a Sherlock Holmes-esque detective named Charles Foxworth, along with his servant Regis. While traveling on a boat from St. Louis to New Orleans, the two sleuths find a dead body. So now it's up to them to solve the mystery before the boat reaches New Orleans.

Music
The game's music comes from the original Commodore 64 version, which was composed by Ed Bogas. It was ported to the Famicom by an unknown person, but seeing that the game's sound driver is from TOSE, it was most likely one of their programmers or sound designers who did the arrangements. While most of the arrangements are decent enough, the Commodore 64 version's soundtrack had more of a variation in sound and instrument design, which the Famicom version lacks.
