Mortal Kombat II in Japanese (モータルコンバットII 完全版 - Mortal Kombat II Kanzenban) is a port of the arcade fighting video game, originally developed and licensed by Midway Games, ported by Probe Software and distributed by Acclaim in America, Europe, Japan-South Korea and Oceania in 1996 for Sega Saturn.
Compared to other console versions, the Sega Saturn version of Mortal Kombat II had better graphics and faster gameplay speed. In addition, the Sega Saturn version offered some additional features, including the ability to play in co-op mode with a friend and the ability to choose from three different difficulty levels.
With a larger color palette and higher resolution, the graphics were first improved, giving the characters and backgrounds a more realistic and detailed appearance. When comparing the Saturn version to some of the other console versions, the "pixilation" effect was less noticeable and resulted in a more pleasant viewing experience.
Another noticeable improvement was that the game speed was significantly faster than other console versions. A higher frame rate would allow for smoother and more accurate character movements. The game's audio features, which enhanced player immersion, included a top-notch soundtrack and sound effects.
Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden and Liu Kang, along with some new faces such as Baraka, Jax and Kitana, were among the iconic characters returning from the original release. Selecting a character allowed players to engage in combat in a variety of martial arts and horror-themed arenas.
Critics and gamers alike praised Mortal Kombat II for Sega Saturn for its superior gameplay and high-quality graphics compared to other console releases. One of the best fighting games of the 16-bit era is now considered Mortal Kombat II for Sega Saturn.

Dan Forden, who also contributed to the soundtrack for the first episode of the series, was responsible for the original composition and addition of the music. Based on his adaptation of
Windows-16, which
Probe Software had rewritten for
Saturn, this was.
There was a variety of music, including rock, orchestral music, and electronic music. The game's background music had an ominous and tense tone that complemented the sinister and violent atmosphere of the game. The game is not even 40 MB in size because it did not use the console's audio processor or the "CD" system as an audio base.
High-quality sound effects, such as the sounds of characters punching, kicking and screaming during battle, were present in addition to the background music.
In addition, players had access to a sound feature called "The Kombat Theatre," where they could watch the characters' endings and listen to the game's music and sound effects. This mode was a fascinating addition that gave players the opportunity to explore the game's audio in more depth. While there is a lot of information about it, it is probably additional.
The fact that they at least knew how to program it on the console and that it was challenging to work on Sega hardware led to the use of this system for additional installments that would later be released for the system.
