The song plays during Scene 1, the first stage of the game, and is the first song heard by the game's player. This was Takeaki Kunimoto's first game that he ever worked on. He arranged the song using FM Music Composer II on his Yamaha CX-7 MSX2. His arrangement of the song was sent to Hudson Soft where Toshiyuki Sasagawa implemented it into the Hudson sound driver. There is also a version of the song in the game's code with its intro stripped, but it is never used in the game.

The song is transposed three steps sharp to the key of F major. It plays at approximately 150 beats per minute.

In this video, Kunimoto demonstrates the original file playing on his Yamaha YIS-503. The song can also be heard in the album Kinoko Kunimoto Takeaki History Vol.1: Challenger. The track is named after this album, although the album spells it SCENE1.
