Manfred Trenz is a German video game developer, programmer, and composer. He created the Turrican, R-Type, and The Great Giana Sisters series, which are still remembered games to this day. Trenz currently runs his own development company, Denaris Entertainment Software.

Manfred used David Whittaker's sound engine and then modified it. The music was written in assembly.
