Junichi Saitō was a Japanese programmer and the main sound designer that worked for Pack-In-Video. Though he worked with Hitoshi Saito, he is not related to him. He started working for the company around 1985. Saito originally worked on computer games, but when the company shifted their focus to console games, Saito worked on those instead. Around 1991, it appears Saito left Pack-In-Video to go freelance. However, he did a few titles for Sammy, and it is unknown if he did this as a freelancer, or if he worked in-house for the company for a time. He also programmed a sound driver for the Game Boy which would be used by various developers. It appears he left the game industry around 1995.

He is known for soundtracks just as Kawa no Nushi Tsuri, Die Hard, and Thunderbirds.

Though some have speculated the Junichi Saito who worked at Pack-In-Video is different than the one who worked for Sammy, Sizlla Okamura verified they are both the same person. [1]

Music Composition

Game Boy

Junichi wrote the music in Z80 assembly into his sound driver. For Marmalade Boy and Shin SD Gundam: Knight Gundam Monogatari, he used Michiya Hirasawa's sound driver.

NES

Junichi wrote his compositions on sheet music, and then converted his compositions into Music Macro Language into his sound driver.

For the Famicom Disk System game Putt Putt Golf, Junichi used Hiroshi Yamazaki's sound driver.

For Kawa no Nushi Tsuri, he used a custom sound driver, either written by himself or possibly by Toru Miyazawa.
