Jun Funahashi is a Japanese composer who worked for Konami. He started with music composition in the mid-1980s and also helped Konami improve their NES sound driver. He continued writing music for Konami's games up until around 2000 when he became the music director for Konami Computer Entertainment Hawaii, Inc. He currently lives in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, USA with his wife Tomoko, and is still composing music and sound for games to this day. Funahashi is also fluent in English.

Audio Development

NES

1. Compose the music with regular rigs, i.e. synth and sequencer
2. Port the music onto a Famicom music editor on PC. It was either a PC or MSX computer. The editor was a proprietary application developed by R&D.
3. Edit and arrange music on the editor until it sounds good
4. Port the data into a mainframe computer which all the programmers used. So this would actually create data in Famicom format
5. Check the sound on a Famicom music simulator, which was also developed by R&D
6. Then tell the programmers where and when to hook up the music.
