|
Jazz Jackrabbit is a platformer developed in response to the popularity of the contemporary console series Sonic the Hedgehog. Like Sonic, Jazz is fast paced with plenty of action. Developed entirely in assembly language at a time when few other games were, Jazz Jackrabbit typically performed very well on hardware of the time.

Music
Jazz Jackrabbit features tracked music with digital samples and stereo output. The game inverts one of the stereo channels for certain instruments to give them a surround-sound effect, which is often lost when playing the files in other PSM/S3M players.
Recording
The songs were recorded by renaming the desired file to MENUSNG.PSM and launching the game with the /SETUP option, to capture the music from the game's driver without any additional sound effects. This was done to preserve the special surround-sound effect used that is not supported by most other players.
