Platform: SFC
Year: 1994
Developer: Magical Company

Itou Hatasu Rokudan no Shougi Doujou is a shogi simulation game developed by Magical Company and published by Ask Kodansha. The game was endorsed by shogi professional Hatasu Ito, and is the only game to do so.

There are two main modes of play. In Hatase Ito's 365 Days of Tsume Shogi (伊藤果の365日上達詰将棋), there are, as the name suggests, 365 different tsume shogi problem the player can attempt; one for each day of the year. In Real Shogi Game (実戦将棋対局), the player can play an exhibition game of shogi against an AI version of Ito. This mode has a few different settings the player can choose such as the difficulty, handicap, and time limit. The player can play against another human player if they wish. After the game, the player is given a chance to view the Impression Battle (感想戦), a feature in Home Data and Magical games which is a replay, allowing the player to study their game.

The game probably won't appeal to anyone except shogi enthusiasts and serious players. The lack of features leaves the player wanting.

Music

The game's soundtrack was composed by Toshiyuki Takine, who composed the other shogi titles by Magical. Like his other work on similar games, the music revolves around traditional-sounding Japanese music. The high-quality instrument samples also make the music nice to listen to. Takine also adds some ambience with the strings, which is pleasing to the ears.

Takine used a variant of Nintendo's Kankichi-kun.

Credits

(Source: Verification from composer; Game lacks credits.)

Like most other Magical games, there are no credits neither in the game nor the manual. Toshiyuki Takine listed the game in his works on his website. The website has long since ceased to exist, but an archive is available on the Wayback Machine. Takine credits himself for the game's music and sound effects.
