- This page is for the DragonStrike song, for more titles see Introduction.
Introduction is the title track for DragonStrike (AMI), DragonStrike (C64), DragonStrike (DOS), DragonStrike (PC98) and DragonStrike (X68).
Composition
The song plays in the 5/4 time signature and mostly sticks to E minor and A minor chord progressions. The song is accompanied by accented snare drums, which add to the medieval feel of the song.
Games
DragonStrike (DOS)
It was composed in AdLib Visual Composer and converted from its native ROL format. The original file is named "DSTune1.mus".
DragonStrike (C64)
The original MUS version was rearranged on SID chip. Unfortunately, a lot of original sound was scrapped: bells, some bass and percussion such as present at 0:26 of the original version, retaining melody and snare drums which now aren't accented, lots of notes were removed, probably to fit sound chip's 3 channels limit. As a result, the Commodore 64 rendition sounds the worst among others.
DragonStrike (AMI)
DragonStrike (PC98)
Similar to the Amiga, Commodore 64, and DOS versions, the song plays at the title screen. The song was arranged by either Yoshio Kobayashi and/or Yasuhiro Kawasaki using Music Macro Language.
The song plays at a much slower tempo, and some of the notes have been changed. This could indicate that the arranger(s) had to learn the music by ear, and did not have access to the original ROL files from Westwood and Paul Mudra.
The VGM rip retitles the song Opening.
DragonStrike (X68)
The song plays during the title screen. Unlike the PC98 version, the end of the song fades out, and plays at a faster tempo.
Based on the PC-9801 version's credits, the song was arranged by either Yasuhiro Kawasaki and/or Yoshio Kobayashi. They used the OPMDRV sound driver and wrote in Music Macro Language.
The VGM rip retitles the song Opening.
Its internal filename is DOPEN2.OPM.
