Idea was an Italian game development label.
The parent company, Leader Distribuzione, had been importing foreign video games and distributing them as is in Italy since 1987. In 1989, Leader founded a subsidiary to additionally localize them under license. It was named S.C., short for Software Copyright, to distance itself from the lot who circumvented licensing using loopholes.
Shortly after, S.C. got a label (not a company) named Idea to do the opposite: develop games in Italy and export them worldwide. Antonio Farina, a former programmer on several platforms, was assigned to run it alone. They started by advertising for programmers in Zzap! magazine. Paolo Galimberti answered with near-finished MoonShadow (C64), and Stefano Lecchi with routines that became Bomber Bob (AMI).
Idea focused on the Amiga, but found through Leader's sales that the Commodore 64 was still popular enough for a few conversions.
All developers freelanced at home. Farina found it was time to produce bigger games, but also that it was too difficult without a studio where everyone worked full-time. Since Leader did not want to go that far, Farina left to found Graffiti, and Idea disappeared.
