Hiroshi Nakamura is an unofficial name of the sound driver programmed by Hiroshi Nakamura. While he seemed to provide his sound driver to different companies, it seems the driver was mainly used by games developed by Bits Laboratory and Square Enix.

Release History

The first game to use Nakamura's sound driver was Hanjuku Hero which was released on December 02, 1988. The last game to use his driver was Nakayoshi to Issho, which was released as late as December 10, 1993. An unlicensed Famicom Disk System game Fairy Pinball also used Nakamura's driver, but it is unknown if Nakamura lent the driver to the game's developer, or if they stole it. The driver doesn't take advantage of the expansion channel in the RP2C33.

Despite the large amount of games that used Nakamura's driver, apart from Rad Racer II none of the games using his sound driver were released in North America or Europe, and stayed exclusively in Japan.

Output

Hiroshi Nakamura's sound driver outputs to the RP2A03 using the four main sound channels at first and then utilizing the DPCM channel for drums later.
