Hirofumi Murasaki is a Japanese composer and sound designer known for his work for various developers such as Santos, Megasoft, Sega, and Wave Master. He started his career in the game industry in 1991 when he worked for Santos, being a student with bass and jazz. His first work was the Genesis conversion of Toki. He stayed with Santos when Sega merged the company into Megasoft. As a result, he continued to compose for the Sega Genesis. He later started working on the Sega Saturn, and was renowned for his work on Clockwork Knight. However, it was around this time Murasaki started working less on music and more for direction. He then joined Sega's subsidiary Wave Master, working on the NFL 2K series of games. He also plays football, and is a referee. In 2013, he left Wave Master to return to his musical career. He performs under his real name and "Dr. Purple".
For more conventional music, Murasaki plays the electric bass.
