Fear of the Heavens is the title music to Secret of Mana (SNES) where it opens to whale song. The tune consists of an echoing piano melody with a flowing stringed harmony. The only percussion it uses is from cymbals.

The tune is played at two other points in the game without being prefixed with whale song: when King Truffle recites the legend and when you find the Mana Tree. Unlike most of the background music in Secret of Mana, Fear of the Heavens does not loop.

This song is track 1 on the official soundtrack, however, it does not include the whale song. The whale song is also a separate audio track in the game ROM, so most dumps do not include the whale song. However, both versions are available here. Without whale song, the song is 1:33 in length, with the whale song, it's 1:42.

Fear of the Heavens was remixed with a slower tempo for three songs in Seiken Densetsu 3 (SFC) for the songs: Angel's Fear, Where Angels Fear to Tread, and Breezin'.

Title

The American and Japanese soundtracks have similar titles, but they are different enough to warrant cataloging.
