Games
The following games do not use this song, despite being conversions of games that do:
Flip & Flop (A8)
Plays over the attract mode which the manual calls "title sequence".
Plays over the get-ready screen of scene 1, unless you just lost a life or turned off start of scene tunes.
Plays over the get-ready screen of scene 1, unless you just lost a life or turned off scene tunes.
The Commodore 64 and below ColecoVision arrangements have a few trills that the above Apple II original has not. This uses one triangle wave, sounds the same on every SID chip and is track 1 in the rip.
Plays over the get-ready screen of scene 1.
The ColecoVision and above Commodore 64 arrangements have a few trills that the above Apple II original has not.
Flip & Flop (C64)
Plays over the attract mode which the manual calls "title sequence".
The bass is mute on most SID chips because it uses the unstable high-pass filter. In the rip, it is track 1.
The Citadel of Chaos (C64)
Tuned at 424 Hz, sounds the same on every SID chip and is track 8 in the rip.
Estra (BBC)
Plays over the title screen.
Giants Revenge (C64)
Tuned at 424 Hz, sounds the same on every SID chip and is track 8 in the rip.
Estra (C64)
Plays over the title screen.
Tuned at 424 Hz and sounds the same on every SID chip.
Clown (PBL)
Played in start of the game.
Plays over the get-ready screen of scene 1, even when you just lost a life.
Plays over the get-ready screen of scene 1, even when you just lost a life.
Geoff Capes Strongman Challenge (C64)
Sounds the same on every SID chip and is track 4 in the rip.
Grijp ze! (C64)
Plays over the main menu. When the song finishes, the game goes into attract mode. Arranged in Sidplayer Editor, the text lines read:
ENTRY OF THE GLADIATORS
JULIAN FUCIK
COURTESY BOB RETELLE
Retelle likely arranged the song as a hobby on a NTSC C64, where it would play 19% faster. The Dutch game programmer likely used this song without permission. Tuned at 424 Hz, it sounds otherwise the same on every SID chip and is track 2 in the game rip.
Gladiator (C64)
Tuned at 424 Hz and sounds the same on every SID chip.
Circus Games (C64)
Plays over the title screen and main menu.
The arrangement is tuned at 424 Hz. Starting at 0:42, it sounds different on every SID chip, because it uses unstable features: a low-pass filter on the bass, and a mixed triangle and pulse wave on the chords. It should be recorded:
- on a C64 PAL where the filter is noticeable and pleasant (and likely as intended).
- on a C64C PAL.
In the rip, it is track 1.
Bojo (C64)
Plays over the title screen and in-game, stopping only when you lose a life.
Tuned at 424 Hz and sounds the same on every SID chip.
Circus Attractions (AMI)
Plays over the title screen.
Arranged using TFMX-Editor, whose driver turns the LED filter off.
Circus Attractions (C64)
Hülsbeck arranged two of Fucik's phrases and more of his own, using his TFMX Editor.
The melody sounds different on every 6581 chip because it uses the unstable low-pass filter. In the rip, it is track 1.
Circus Attractions (AST)
Plays over the title screen.
Arranged using TFMXMMTEX-Editor.
Circus Attractions (DOS)
Plays digital audio on the PC Speaker over the title screen.
X-Men: Madness in Murderworld (DOS)
The title screen starts with 13 seconds of Fucik's melody, which then changes into an ominous and mysterious original.
Arranged in AdLib Visual Composer, the filenames are xopen.rol and xmen.bnk.
X-Men: Madness in Murderworld (C64)
The composition, usage, and credits match the above DOS version, but the arrangement uses only one instrument and lacks all percussion and tempo changes. Therefore, it is questionable if Schofield did this arrangement or is only credited for original composition.
Whoever did arrange it, they used Sidplayer Editor and saved with the text line "XMEN OPENER". It sounds the same on every SID chip and is track 1 in the rip.
The Secret of Monkey Island (DOS)
Played inside The Fantastic Flying Fettucini Brothers Circus.
The Secret of Monkey Island (AMI)
Played inside The Fantastic Flying Fettucini Brothers Circus.
Stember told that he created the instrument samples for Hülsbeck, who arranged the music in TFMX-Editor. The LED filter is probably turned off, as usual for TFMX.
Rolling Ronny (C64)
Starts at 1:06 and makes up the last 24% of an otherwise original composition. It plays over the title screen and main menu.
The bass sounds different on every 6581 chip because it uses the unstable low-pass filter. In the rip, it is track 1.
Ninja Clowns (ARC)
Villainous version played in title screen.
Lemmings 2: The Tribes (AMI)
Plays over the circus levels, in a medley with Over the Waves.

Wissoll-Circus-Trophy (DOS)
This is an original composition that discreetly quotes one bar of Fucik's melody, roughly every 10 seconds.
It first plays over the title screen, when the Wissoll Presents has finished. Afterwards, it plays over the main menu, instructions, and credits, and quickly fades out when you exit the program.
If you select AdLib instead of Sound Blaster, the drums do not play.
