Upon entering Death Mountain, you'll be introduced to the foreboding Death Mountain BGM tune. Unlike the Underworld music which is mysterious, the Death Mountain music is downright dark and nefarious, reminding you how close you are to the great evil of Gannon.

For some reason, the Famicom Disk System version plays the triangle channel (bass) for two measures before starting the song.

The title comes from the Famicom 20th Anniversary - Original Sound Tracks, Vol.1 album. The song is track 8 in the NSF file.

Composition

The song is atonal, in the 4/4 time signature, and plays at 150 BPM. The triangle plays a simple eighth note pattern with staccato articulation. The two square waves harmonize in flattened fifths, giving the song its ominous atmosphere.
