Platform: Dreamcast
Year: 1999
Developer: Team Ninja
This page is for the Sega Dreamcast version. For other games in the series, see Dead or Alive.

Dead or Alive 2 in japan (デッド オア アライブ 2 - Deddo oa araibu 2), is a port of the arcade game of the same name but with many technical improvements, developed by Team Ninja of Tecmo and distributed by Tecmo in America and Japan, Acclaim in Europe and Oceania, in Brazil by Tec Toy Indústria de Brinquedos S.A. for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999.

Very advanced fighting game made for the NAOMI board of Sega, perfect controls, high quality music, advanced graphics, mechanics and animations very worked, with good reception.

This is the second game of the saga with a graphical and physics change adapted to the Dreamcast controller that looked like an arcade game. This port did not suffer great changes since everything was thought to be exclusive for Dreamcast but it came out for PS2 with serious errors (until DOA 2: Hardcore arrived).

Tecmo has always added a very controversial feature, the female characters have chest animations and their costumes are sometimes "sexual" although in this installment they went too far.

Its reception was very good being a very important port in the Sega Dreamcast catalog, but the critics saw it coming but the ESRB gave it a Teen rating. Like its predecessor, "Dead or Alive 2" features a fast-paced 3D fighting gameplay style. It places a strong emphasis on countering and creating combos, and it's known for its interactive stages where players can knock opponents off ledges or into different areas of the arena to deal extra damage.

Dead or Alive 2 laid the foundation for the continued success of the "Dead or Alive" series. It spawned sequels and spin-offs that have been released on various gaming platforms over the years.

Dead or Alive 2 was known for its impressive graphics at the time of its release, showcasing the capabilities of the Dreamcast hardware. The character models, animations, and stage designs were highly detailed for the time.

Mr. Makoto Hosoi is the original author of the game's soundtrack although it is not the original version, making changes to GD-ROM quality and even making an album version for sale called Dead or Alive 2 Original Sound Trax on CD for distribution.

Shigekiyo Okuda was the sound arranger for both the game's soundtrack and the official album, including a demo track.

This game was the base game for the PlayStation 2 version but only this one was badly cut until the arrival of Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore (PS2) which made the game better received on Sony's console but the music was kept.

As for the music in "Dead or Alive 2," the game features a soundtrack that complements the intense fighting gameplay. The soundtrack consists of various energetic and dynamic tracks that match the fast-paced nature of the game.
