Darren Mitchell is an American musician. He was born in Dallas, Texas on November 14, 1964. Mitchell recieved his bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and has completed several graduate hours.

Mitchell was the primary composer at Iguana Entertainment from 1996 until the company was purchased by Acclaim in 2000.

When asked about his favorite groups and inspirations, Mitchell said the following:

I don't really listen to 'bands' anymore. If I had to choose it would be B.T. I mainly listen to film scores and symphonic wind scores, which is what I write when I am not doing game music.

I get my inspiration from everywhere. Something I hear, see, or perhaps something someone says or hums........everywhere!

Music Development

N64

Darren said this about South Park's music:

That was delveloped VERY fast for a console game, my part was about 3 weeks which is why the music uses the same sounds on most every piece. I found a style that the producer liked, and stuck with it. Not my greatest work, but there is some fun stuff there.

As I recall, the drums and pizz strings are from the Ensoniq TS-10/12. The bass and other sounds were from the Roland JV-1080 that was fully expanded. As I recall the Bass actually came from the ROM Card that was made for the JV-880.

That was not a fun project. Very tight deadlines, not enough time to really develop good music overall. The N64 was a &%*()%& to develop on so on all my N64 games almost all of my 'non-writing' time was used for implementation into the console. A royal pain.
