Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy | ||||||
|
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is a famous instrumental from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet, The Nutcracker. The instrumental features a new, at the time, and rare keyboard instrument, the celesta (which means "heavenly" in French). Tchaikovsky wrote Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy specifically for the celesta in order to be the first composer to use it.

Music 1 is Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Licensed NES game. Under normal circumstances, the song plays at its regular tempo, however, when you get dangerously close to the top, the song plays from 150 BPM to 300 BPM. Interestingly, the song does not play in the original key of E minor, but instead plays 3 steps down in C# minor.

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is used as the background music of the Multimedia Player demo that comes with the software. Since all the other new songs that came with the Sound Blaster Pro came from the MusiClips library, it is assumed that this song also came from the library and was converted to a CMF file, though this has not been verified.
The song is named FAIRY.CMF and is located in the MMPLAY folder.
