DX Bakenou Z is one of many horseracing simulation games. It was developed by Graphic Research and published by Asmik Ace Entertainment. Like the other games in the series, it came in a box bigger than most typical Japanese Game Boy games at the time.

Music
The game has a very short soundtrack; only 5 songs, and all less than a minute in length before looping. However, what's there is good enough. Hiroto Kanno and Yasuyuki Hamada collaborated to make the game's soundtrack, in which they wrote a sound driver in Z80 assembly and wrote the music in a custom form of Music Macro Language. The game uses the second version of the driver which Fumito Tamayama programmed.
Surprisingly, the game not only has a sound test, but the sound test contains official names for all the music and sound effects.

The game's credits are hidden via a complex cheat code. Fumito Tamayama has identified the aliases of Raika no Papa and Hyakumangoku as belonging to Hiroto Kanno and Yasuyuki Hamada, respectively. There is also a cheat in the sound test to display the kanji of Hyakumangoku (百万石). The name means A Million Stones.
