Cybergammon is a simple implementation of the Backgammon board game. It was developed by Cyberstyle and sold to Double Density (2D), an employee of Computec Media which published it on Amiga Fun magazine in May.

Music

Cyberstyle's musician Rudolf Stember arranged two unique compositions using SoundTracker III and his own instrument samples, including several piano chords and a snare drum reminiscent of Word Up! and She Drives Me Crazy. There are no sound effects.

Recording

The music was recorded from the game in WinUAE 6.0.3 with NTSC off, Stereo separation 100%, and Audio filter:

  1. Emulated (A500), like Stember and most gamers had.

Recordings for Amiga 1000 and 1200 can be made if found different enough. Each song was played 10 seconds longer and faded out.

(Info)

The driver and sample lengths are linked into the executable. The sample lengths in the MOD files are ignored, so you cannot just change the music.

Audio Devices

Music plays on the computer's built-in Paula chip. The game turns the LED filter off.

Holding the Ctrl key and left button in port 2 triggers the unstable easter egg from SoundTracker III. It is invisible in Cybergammon and hangs the game up, but you can resume the music by repeatedly clicking either button in port 1 until the computer reboots.

An official NTSC release is unlikely.
