Contra III: The Alien Wars (In Europe Super Protector: Alien Rebels, in Japan 魂斗羅スピリッツ - Contra Spirits) is a game released exclusively for Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy, published and developed by Konami in April 1992 in America, Europe, Japan and Australia.
This game starts before Contra: Hard Corps (GEN) its story starts is 6 years ago, it takes place in 2636, two years after the incident of Super Contra (NES), when the aliens from the game earlier they launched a large-scale attack on the earth again. Contra Team's Bill Rizer and Lance Bean arrive in the devastated New City to stop the invasion.

Miki Higashino, Masanori Adachi, Tappi Iwase, Aki Hata (uncredited) made the music and transferred it to the Game Boy version, there are 15 sound tracks in sequences that can be repeated since the hardware of SNES allowed it.
Compared to Contra: Hard Corps (GEN), which consisted of more than 29 tracks that are divided into the game, those of the SNES game are only exclusive for each level since they are counted and linked to the theme of each one.
