This page is for the NES version of the game. For other versions, see City Connection.

Like most of the early games for the NES, City Connection was originally an arcade game that was ported over, originally titled Cruisin (no relation to the Cruis'n series). In the game you play a driver (Clarice in the Japanese original, an unknown male driver in the international versions) who is going to several cities and painting their streets white in their Honda City to prove that they've been there. Various obstacles stand in your way like police officers, spikes, and of course cats. It's kind of like what would happen if you made Pac-Man a side-view platformer. However, much like Pac-Man, the game gets dull rather quickly.

The game was converted to the NES by TOSE, and was one of their first projects for the console.

Music

The music was ported from the original arcade version of the game by Norihiro Atsumi, but suffered a dramatic reduction in quality due to the over-simplification common in early NES games. The background music for is primarily arrangements from Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1, specifically "Allegro non troppo e molto maestoso", but sections of it have also been identified as clearly being from the song "Highway Star" by Deep Purple. The music when you hit the cat is "Flohwalzer (Flea Waltz)", which is known in Japan as "Neko Funjatta (I Stepped On the Cat)". While the original arcade version used unique arrangements of the Tchaikovky song on each level, the NES version only uses two of them.

The music was released on one of the second Famicom music album where the artist and titles were derived.
